Special Educational Needs

School SEND Information

This school provides a rich, broad, balanced and connected curriculum for all children. The National Curriculum is our starting point for planning a curriculum which meets the specific needs of individuals and groups of children. When planning, teachers set suitable learning challenges and respond to children’s diverse learning needs. A minority of children have particular learning and assessment requirements that could create barriers to learning.

These requirements are likely to arise as a consequence of a child having a special educational need. Teachers take account of these requirements and make provision, where necessary, to support individuals or groups of children and thus enable them to participate effectively in curriculum and assessment activities.

Children may have special educational needs either throughout, or at any time during, their school career. This offer ensures that curriculum planning and assessment for children with special educational needs takes account of the type and extent of the difficulty experienced by the child.

Our SENDCo is Mrs Nicola Felton. She can be contacted on: nicola.felton@thelittletons.dowmat.education or via the school office – office@thelittletons.dowmat.education

Our Governor with responsibility for SEND is Mrs Katie Troth.

LA SEND Local Offer

The SEND Graduated Response guidance is intended to be used as a tool for schools and settings and those partner agencies working with them and has been created in collaboration with SEND professionals, parents and carers and young people.

The guidance has been designed to help ensure children and young people across the county with Special Educational Needs reach their full potential. It sets out Local Authority expectations for the ways in which all schools and settings should meet the needs of children and young people with SEND.
